Devin Maya - Black Hive Tattoo

Born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, Devin has been professionally tattooing as of 2018 and has been doing art for just about her whole life. As a child, she was fascinated by various forms of art, including everything from comics, book illustrations, and printmaking- a craft that utilizes the same practices of attention to detail as tattooing. After attending local art schools from age 11-17, she attended UNF and graduated in 2017 receiving a Bachelors of Fine Arts with a concentration in Studio Arts.

Devin’s continued interest in fine arts pushed her to pursue a career in tattooing. During college Devin found a receptionist job at a local tattoo shop, and after graduation she began her apprenticeship.

For tattooing, Devin continues to draw influence from a wide range of mediums that still include comics and book illustrations, as well as sci fi and fantasy. Doing so enables her to be more proficient in many different styles of tattooing.

Devin’s passion and pursuit of knowledge for her craft brought her to Black Hive. Surrounding herself with other like minded artists, Devin is looking forward to pushing herself in her career to continually create the best tattoos she can for her clients.

Devin is a custom work tattoo artist that specializes in traditional, illustrative and black and grey. Her preferred concentrations include sci-fi, fantasy, animal portraits, American traditional motifs, and Japanese themes.

Devin works Tuesday through Saturday, requires a $160 deposit, and her hourly rate is $160

Please include up to 4 photos for reference that you have for your ideas … It’s not required, but it IS helpful 🙂 If you are requesting a cover up or rework of an old tattoo, also provide pictures of the existing tattoo, and DON’T just send only close ups! Be sure to include all of the area AROUND the tattoo, or the whole body part it is on as well.

Please note a few things:

~Devin will typically respond to emails every other week unless she is out of town or sick.

~ If your idea has changed since you were put on her waiting list, notify Devin when she calls to set up your consultation. BEFORE you come in. NOT at the consultation.

~If you are not available or ready when Devin contacts you, you do NOT go to the back of her list! You stay in the same spot you were before, and she’ll call you when her next appropriate opening is available.
